I just love natural products and especially if I can make them myself with an essential oil favorite. You can find more and more eco-friendly products at the grocery store. The other nice thing about making your own products is the money savings. I have to admit that I'm certainly not an expert on essential oils either. But I know that they are not all made equal. I have found the essential oils that are sold at health stores are generally much more effective. Look for dark blue bottles as essential oils can lose their strength with light exposure. Take a look at some of my favorites and try them out yourself. Enjoy!
P.S. Most cleaners will have vinegar in them. Vinegar is not only a great cleaner but a disinfectant too. I'm not crazy about the smell so I add essential oils. The vinegar smell quickly dissipates and leaves your house sparkly clean. Shower & Bath CleanerThis is probably a favorite cleaner of mine. This stuff will clean grout like nobody's business. Just spray in shower or tub, let it sit for a few minutes and wipe down. If grout is really dirty use a brush and the grime and mildew just comes right up.

Body Sugar Scrub
This is a sugar scrub and will have your skin soft and glowing. Perfect for prepping for the beach or a night out.
1/2 cup granulated sugar 1/2 cup organic coconut oil 20 drops (more or less to your liking) peppermint oil Mix the sugar and coconut oil together. Don't heat the oil because you don't want the sugar to melt. Mix until a nice paste has formed. Add the essential oil. Store in a container with lid. After your bath or shower, simply massage the mixture onto your skin. Pay special attention to dry areas such as elbows, knees and feet. This scrub is excellent as a facial and lip scrub as well. I typically use this in the shower so that I can rinse off the remnants of scrub well. Be prepared to have the softest skin ever! |
